Design Case Study: Waffle Bar

Waffle Bar, a locally owned brand established in 2018 in Minnesota, reached out for some branding work. As they grew, introduced new products, and expanded with more locations, it led a series of engaging and wonderful design projects over the years.

The Brief: Design a brand for a waffle, ice cream, tea and coffee shop.
*Premium, fun, playful, friendly, warm, strong and timeless.

I designed a satire post ‘Cookieapolis, 2019’, featuring one of Waffle Bar’s signature menu item duct taped to a wall and wrote copy for the artwork label card. Inspired by the piece titled the ‘Comedian’ (the duct-taped banana) by Maurizio Cattelan.  It sold for $6 mil at Art Basel Miami in 2019 and was the subject of a heated debate.

For Pride Month, I wrote copy and created a vibrant, scenic food art plating that captures the essence of love—crafted entirely from delicious sweets which also featured a new menu item. #loveislove
